Two days ago, I had the privilege of hanging out with Shanie Simon who recently moved to London from the Caribbean island of Dominica, and wasn’t afraid to admit to me that she had become very fond of British fashion. The more we got talking, I had the chance to scrutinize her appearance and found myself admiring her refined sense of style, whilst also recognising her potential to become an international supermodel.

Shanie could not help but allure me with her strong facial features and 5 foot 7 slender, athletic frame, which she accentuates by wearing “mainly skinny jeans”. She is also very bold and creative with her outfit choices and isn’t afraid of trying out new looks, and despite being a little shy in front of the cameras because of her limited professional experience, one cannot dispute that she is incredibly photogenic.

When I asked her what she was going to do next to kick-start her modelling career in London, she told me: “I want to show some agencies my photos and take it from there”. I could see the passion and determination in this young woman’s eyes and, something told me, in that very instant, that these photos were only the beginning of her journey in the spotlight.
